Izzat yer Final Ansa?!

The applause of a live audience, the flashing lights, the trumped up music, the yelling, screaming and hooting, the crushing heartbreak of loss and the searing exuberance of victory are all what form up the rambling milieu of a television game-show.

I love game-shows. I loved them as a kid and they're possibly the only program on television I can still tolerate to a great extent. Not for the reasons most people do though.

A game show is like a spectrum of human emotions. You'll see laughter, love, sadness, hate, joy immediately replaced by anger and hatred and of course... bitterness. Bitterness is probably the most fun part of it for me. You've seen it. It's also called being a sore loser, but they don't have sore losers in game shows. No... they have the graceful loser life-mask. The loser makes a smile and an expression so bizarre and yet so compellingly magnificent in it's range. That fake smile encompasses an entire gamut of emotions that occur in the second they're declared the loser. It's also called the Chuck Barris Metamorphosis.

Here's an easy to remember chart that charts some of the range of emotions in sequence.

Keep in mind that's happening in less than 3 seconds.

Now do you see why I love game shows? In what other kind of reality tv can you get this much drama? A spin of the wheel, the buzz of the buzzer, a link being weak, a question unanswered, the clock running out of time can each crush the soul of someone and thrill someone else beyond belief! The brave losers have to hold it together as best as they can and fake an appropriate response for the winner while they go through the above symptoms.

The winners response is as one would expect... except it's usually mixed with a tinge of "My god my god my god I don't believe they're just giving me all this money!! What a bunch of suckers!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH...." and so on.

But the winners and losers aren't the only reason to watch this kind of gripping television.

The Studio Audience... excuse me.. I must pause. The Studio Audience.. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ok enough of that.

The Studio Audience is my second favourite aspect of these shows. These guys are always so chipper about the contestant winning you'd think it was they themselves who'd just won a boat or a car or a mountain of cash. I find it amazing.. the zeal.. the love for a complete stranger.. the excitement for someone they've never met before to win prizes and money they'll have no chance of getting themselves! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

So do you see? Can you see the utter delightfulness of game shows? Where else can you find this kind of drama packed into 20 minutes of quality television programming? Reality? Pfft. Who's going to give you a bag full of money to swallow sixty cockroaches in 2 minutes in reality? But on a game show? Bring on the cockroaches baby!

P.S. Mr. Cho.... I'm sooooooooo sorry. But meh.. not THAT sorry.. you'll never see this.
P.P.S. If you do happen to see this... could I have an autographed nude pic of Brandy? Thanks!
